Network of energy centers for recycling biomass and other harmful waste

Recycle plastic and other harmful waste without harming the environment, get ‘green energy’ and earn money while making the world cleaner

Problem

The issue of ecology, clean air and water is at the top of today’s agenda. Millions of tonnes of garbage are buried in the ground, dropped in seas and oceans. Just imagine: there are 3 plastic bottles for each person on this planet, with a total of over 20 billion.

Our supplies of drinking water are dwindling. Rivers and lakes are drying out. The speed of production is increasing, leading to colossal emissions of chemicals into the atmosphere.

 Enterprises in most countries aren’t even considering reducing emissions or recycling raw materials. As a result, we are gradually moving into a global catastrophe. People are getting sick, with accelerated aging and reduced immunity. Species of animals, fish and plants are going extinct. Organic products are becoming increasingly expensive.

Only a small number of producers and governments have made significant changes at the legislative level to solve environmental problems. Our health, and the health of our children, are only in our hands.

A group of Ukrainian scientists has discovered a unique solution for recycling biomass and other harmful substances, with further transformation into biofuel (green energy) and pure activated carbon. This self-sustaining technology can make the planet cleaner while creating useful byproducts (energy, raw materials).

Project idea

The main idea for this project is recycling the constantly growing supplies of waste without impacting the environment, through a developing network of unified energy centers around the world, managed through a single coordination center. The problem of waste recycling is one of the key issues in the world.

Everyone is trying to extract high-calorific gas that can then be cleaned. We have focused our attention on the cleaning process, rather than the caloric value of the gas. We obtain a gas with a high-enough caloric value to burn it, while cleaning it thoroughly inside the gasifier. The result has been patented.

While testing the developed gasifier, we have discovered its potential to recycle plastic, plastic bags, and other dangerous substances without any harmful emissions into the atmosphere. The device also easily transforms RDF (refuse derived fuel) into gas, and there are millions of tonnes of this substance laid up in Europe.

Creating a network of energy centers is a self-sustaining and profitable technology, a constructive business that makes our planet cleaner and improves our health. It’s the technology we’ve been searching for all around the world for many years. It only needs a push before it gets distributed around the world to make our planet a better place to live.

Product description and key advantages

What is the target audience of this product?

  • ’Green electricity’ – energy market;
  •  electricity – consumption partners or sale to energy network;
  •  heat and cold – consumption partners;
  •  carbon dioxide – sale on the consumer market;
  • recycling harmful waste – on a contractual basis with relevant enterprises.

What makes this product and technology unique?

We were the first to recognize that raw materials used in the gasification process (which include at least 40% carbon) can be used to extract activated carbon, which can then be completely burned. Dirty gas obtained as a result of complete combustion of raw materials should not be released into the atmosphere, but re-incinerated. After its recovery, through incandescent carbon, it can be purified through the previously prepared activated carbon.

As a result, our gasifier doesn’t release dirty emissions into the atmosphere, simply because it does not have an exhaust pipe.

What makes it different from similar projects?

The efficiency of the most widespread technology, anaerobic digestion, offers the opportunity to gasify only 6 to 55% of the raw energy, depending on the type of raw materials used. The remainder of the raw materials, in the form of solid and liquid fractions, still requires some type of disposal.

We have successfully developed, tested and patented a flame gasification technology, which allows us to convert the entire energy potential of raw materials (biomass or any organic matter) into gas, with efficiency up to 95%.

The proposed technology, in comparison with aerobic digestion, for example, offers several times more green energy from the same volume of raw materials. It’s less expensive, pays off 2-3 times faster and takes up a significantly smaller area. But most importantly, there are no emissions to pollute the environment.

The technology has no equivalent in the world. Essentially, it combines well-known chemical reactions into a certain sequence through a double process of oxidation and reduction of raw materials and the resulting gas. Meanwhile, the first reactor produces activated carbon, while the next one is used to burn the raw materials. We do not throw away the resulting dirty gas, but instead we launch the process from the beginning to clean it by using the previously obtained activated carbon.

Plastic, plastic bags, RDF and other harmful substances are recycled.

Our team’s experience in the design, construction and maintenance of facilities has allowed them to not only develop this gasification technology, but also a technology for structuring this business – a network of unified energy centers for processing biomass and other hazardous waste.

Project timeline, objectives, and milestones

The gasifier has completed the stages of research and development. All features have been tested in practice. The separate components of the proposed configuration of the energy center are already successfully used in various projects, including by the SINAPSE company. The technology is patented in Ukraine, patent numbers: 115017, 115948, 115949 “Method for gasification of solid fuel and combined solid fuel gasifier for its implementation.” An application has been submitted and the process of patenting an invention is underway in the countries of the European Union and Eurasia.

At the first stage, it is necessary to build three to five unified energy centers and create a franchise for this business for the qualified and rapid development of the network of energy centers. Then, it is necessary to create a system for the selection, training and testing of personnel for the development of the project. Software for technical and financial ON-Line control of the operation of all power centers needs to be developed. This will significantly reduce the cost of their maintenance.

It is planned to implement 25 energy centers in different countries.

To implement the proposed project, SPM (SINAPSE Project Management) was established, which has 29 years of experience in implementing similar projects. It will act as a coordinator, organize development and help investors in the efficient management of the energy center around the world.

Delivery

The time frame for the implementation of the first power center is 12-16 months. Since all power centers are unified, the implementation period for each next facility will be reduced to 3 – 4 months.

Frequently Asked Questions:

For which countries is the energy center intended?

The energy centers can be built in any country around the world.

Does the product come with any guarantees, and if so, what are they?

The quality is guaranteed by our thirty years of experience in the implementation of similar objects. Among the clients: Coca-Cola Beverages Ukraine, PepsiCo, Boryspil International Airport, National Bank of Ukraine, Myronivsky Hliboproduct.

Does the product have any negative aspects or side effects?

The only weakness of the technology is the low calorific value of the gas and its standard ratio of components, which does not allow the cogeneration modules to be fully loaded due to detonation. Now the module is operating at a power output of 70%. In the long term, the module will be adapted to its full possible capacity.

 What is the environmental value of your technology?

The generator gas in our gasifier has only three components: CO (28-32%), H2 (20-24%) and molecular nitrogen N2 (46-48%), which, after being burned in a cogeneration module, produce emissions similar to burning natural gas (CO2 , H2O and NOx). As for ash, in the process of gasification, we add certain reagents to the original fuel that neutralize harmful substances, turn them into neutral compounds, and the ash becomes harmless.

How can combustible residues from the processing of solid household waste (RDF) be disposed in your gasifier?

If the dry composition of RDF contains more than 28% carbon, then it can be directly utilized in our gasifier. If there is less carbon, RDF must be diluted with other carbon raw materials to achieve the required carbon ratio in the raw material.

What are the requirements for the location of the energy center?

This can be any territory of an industrial zone. To speed up the implementation of the project, you can cooperate with the host partners who have a free territory in their production, a substation through which the generated energy can be delivered by the power center. The associated heat from the power center can be sold for the needs of the receiving partner.

Is it possible to produce activated carbon through the gasifier?

Yes, with a certain process setting, you can get carbon with a pore surface of more than 400 m2 per 1 gram of carbon. And when the obtained carbon is re-calcined, with the addition of water vapor, the active surface can be increased to 1000 m2 or more, which will make it possible to use this activated carbon not only for purifying gas, water, etc., but also for medical purposes. However, it is possible to achieve such quality of activated carbon only from wood raw materials. At the outlet, there will be less generator gas.

What kind of pyrolysis is used in the gasifier?

A combined technology is used, several successive reactions of oxidation and reduction of combustion products. There is also a pyrolysis reaction with the addition of oxygen in a limited volume for burning only volatile components, in order to obtain active semi-coke, which is used for gas purification.

What is semi-coke?

Semi-coke is an intermediate product in a gasifier for gas purification. It moves to the lower reactor for afterburning it to ash and completely converting solid raw materials into producer gas. This process applies to different types of fuel.
